To the Rule of International Law and Against International Aggression

do hereby solemnly, sincerely and truthfully declare and affirm as follows:
that, in no circumstances whatever shall I vote for, argue for or in any other manner whatever, encourage or support, the deployment of, or use of, any United Kingdom Armed Forces whatever, for the purpose of engaging in hostile military action or operations (be that bombardment, blockade, occupation, invasion, suppression or otherwise), anywhere in the World outside the United Kingdom, its dominions and possessions overseas, without the express consent of, and at the specific invitation of,
the lawful and legitimate government of the territory in which such deployment or use takes place,
save with the following possible exceptions:
SELF DEFENCE
(a) Where there is an immediate need to act in the territorial self-defence of, and in response to a prior or imminent attack upon, this Nation, its dominions and possessions overseas, or upon one of its international allies; or,
RESTORATION OF INTERNATIONAL PEACE
(b) Where such use of armed force is specifically and expressly authorised, in unambiguous terms, by contemporary resolution of the Security Council of the United Nations, acting in the interests of the restoration and maintenance of international peace and security,
should my conscience, in such circumstances, demand otherwise.
